Simply Love

Little Welcome table by my front door:

Buddha

Down Stairs Bathroom:

A guy I work with is a very funky artist and I was lucky enough to get him to paint me a really bright, jolly Buddha and I absolutely love it. The other painting was done by my mom and I stand and stare at my art sometimes because I think they are so neat. These two pieces were the inspiration for the downstairs bathroom and although it is a small room, I think the fun art looks just right! The little cabinet has a cute little jar which I am slowly filling up with fortunes from fortune cookies. Im.In.Love.

hoodlum

Bailey's cousin Sean has recently started designing hoodscarves for various stores. He came into town and spoiled us with some of his designs. How great right?! These hoodscarves are very cute under a coat and kept me quite warm the beginning of this month when the record low temps hit. Thanks a bunch Sean!!

Flashback to 1912

Even as a kid, I was always intrigued with the story of the Titanic. I had a few books on it and I even think at one point, I tried to teach myself morris code (hahaha). Needless to say, I was quite bummed when I missed out on the Titanic artifact exhibit when it came to Phoenix in 2007. I recently happened to google it to see where it was at and discovered it was down in Tucson and decided to take a little road trip with my mom and aunt to see all of the artifacts. It was even better than what I was expecting. The woman who worked there followed us through and told us many different stories of people and facts about the ship that we would not have gotten information on otherwise. There were so many great stories and artifacts and there was even an ice burg there for people to touch. I was shocked to read that they recovered a syringe with the liquid still in it as well as pills in a small glass vile. There was so much information to take in and so many things I made a mental note of to google search! When you first got there, they gave you a real ticket like the ones given to people on the Titanic with real passengers names and some information about them. At the end of the tour, you got to see if you lived or died. All three of us happened to be 1st class passengers, but only two of us lived. Mom was quite bummed she didn't make it. The whole thing was really great and although you couldn't take pictures during the exhibits, I couldn't leave without any (is that orbs in the third picture?haha). We also had some fun going to a large antique mall while we were in Tucson.

The little things

I get these ideas in my head and they always seem to eat at me until I get them completed. My newest decorating obsession ended up being the two extra bathrooms in my house. It was really bothering me that the extra bathroom upstairs had nothing in it, so here is the completed bathroom and I have to say, I am in love with it. It is very spring like and bright which is just what that room needed. I also got to find a nice spot for my fake grass in a frame (a big thanks to my brother in law lee for his help with that!). The other frames ended up not coming out how I planned but they work for now. They were old black frames that I pained white but they somehow ended up turning light pink, the picture does not do much of a justice to the pink color...but boy are they pink. Just the small additions to this little bathroom make me very happy. I have always been a person who appreciates and enjoys the little things in life!

Once the downstairs bathroom is completed I will be posting pictures of that! :)

Sister

Happy Birthday!

Some things people should know about Sky Schmell:

she’s truly great, she likes me even though I used to torment her when we were kids (and still sometimes now), she has the BEST ideas, I’ve been copying her for the last 23 years, get us together and we’ll be finding something to laugh about (watch out for hidden cameras recording, you may catch us saying some ridiculous things), she makes dull moments fun like the time she miraculously amused two little ones with a game of I spy on a long, boring drive through the desert, her nails grow at warp speed, she is the loudest milk drinker I know, she makes the most delicious desserts I have ever tasted, she can look at a recipe and know how to tweak it to make it perfect, she can improvise on the spot in sticky situations like craft mishaps, she has horrible balance, she is really good at using a hot glue gun, she is fun, adventurous, and gorgeous! she is all around fantastic and I’ve looked up to her for years. I could go on and on, but I just want to give a big happy birthday to my sis!
